BJP state vice president and former mayor Alok Sharma has once again raised the issue of meat shops opening till late night in some areas of Bhopal. On Friday, he met Collector Ashish Singh and said that two different sets of laws should not work in one city and shops should be closed strictly.
BJP leader Sharma said that meat shops remain open 24 hours in Qazi Camp, Laxmi Talkies, Budhwara, Chowki Imamwada, Mangalwara, Shaban Square, Jinsi Market. For this reason the Gumasta Act is not being followed.
BJP leaders said that shops in New Market, MP Nagar, Jumerati, Hanumanganj, Chowk Bazaar, Sarafa Bazaar, Hamidia Road, Bitton Market, Bairagarh, Kolar Road and other areas of the city are closed by 10 pm. At the same time, shops in Qazi Camp, Lakshmi Talkies, Budhwara, Char Batti, Emami Gate, Itwara, Jahangirabad, Jinsi Square etc. remain open throughout the night. There is a gathering of anti-social elements at these places. Due to this the young generation is getting addicted to drugs. Therefore, all the markets should be closed at the same time.
BJP leader Sharma said that meat shops remain open throughout the night on the roadside in Qazi Camp area. Earlier, Sharma had also opposed the markets remaining open till late night. Councilor Manoj Rathore, Chetan Bhargava, District Media Incharge Rajendra Gupta, Rakesh Kukreja, Rajesh Kannaujiya, Shailesh Sahu, Vikas Soni, Abhay Pandit, Yuva Morcha District Vice President Avni Sharma, Hariom Asadi etc. were present.
Following the government's order, Collector Singh also held a meeting with meat and fish sellers on Thursday and informed them about the instructions issued regarding banning the sale of meat and fish in the open. The Collector contacted Corporation Commissioner Frank Noble A.
In the meeting, meat and fish sellers asked for a week's time to follow the instructions. Which was agreed upon. The Collector said that action will be taken against the violations after a week. Here, the Municipal Corporation's challan action is going on. On Thursday, the Municipal Corporation had taken action against a total of 17 shopkeepers and imposed a fine of more than Rs 10,000 for selling meat and fish in the open. Action is being taken on Friday also.
Collector Ashish Singh had held a meeting of meat and fish sellers on Friday. According to government orders, it is mandatory for all establishments selling meat and fish to have opaque glass/doors and complete arrangements for cleanliness. Along with this, sale or display of the said material is prohibited within a distance of 100 meters in front of the main gate of any religious place.
