Over 3.5 lakh employees in Madhya Pradesh staged a one day protest impacting government works of several departments, unions are pressing demands in the wake of upcoming state assembly elections.
In the protest which witnessed around 3.5 lakh employees including 60000 Clerk (Class-III) are on leave for one day strike today. Due to this, works related to people from tehsils to local bodies got stuck.
Due to the Patwaris being on strike, works like nomination, demarcation, distribution are not being done. There were problems even in getting the land registered. Registry and Tehsil offices were deserted in Bhopal.
The employees are staging a big demonstration regarding a total of 39-point demands including old pension. The Patwaris of the state are already on leave for 3 days. District CEO, Gazetted Officers also went on leave along with Class III and Class IV on Friday. Because of this the work is getting affected. Due to government holidays on Saturday and Sunday, work will not be done due to which work related to the public will not be able to be done for 3 consecutive days.
This demonstration is being held on the call of 6 organizations including Madhya Pradesh Officer-Employee Front.
The office bearers of the organization were holding gate meetings in the government offices for the last several days. From 11 am on Friday, the employees sat on strike outside Satpura and Collectorate.
Tiwari, the state secretary of the Class III Employees Union, said that there are a total of 5.75 lakh employees in the state. The gazette officer cadre including class-3 and 4 are also involved in the strike on Friday. Employees will return to work on Monday.
Due to the strike of the employees in the registrar's office of Bhopal, other works including the registry have been affected.
