The Center for incubation and innovation AIIMS Bhopal (Bio incubation and Advanced Niche of Innovation in Healthcare, BANI-Health) was inaugurated by Prof (Dr) Ajai Singh, Executive Director and CEO, AIIMS Bhopal on Wednesday.

Manu Srivastava, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Technical Education, Skill Development and Employment, Govt of Madhya Pradesh was present during the occasion. The center will foster innovation and incubation of ideas in keys areas of emerging biomedical technologies including Biomedical Device Development and implants, Artificial Intelligence, Nanotechnology and Tissue Engineering.

This is a unique initiative of AIIMS Bhopal to translate medical research to product and process which will benefit patients. During the occasion, Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Department of Technical Education, Skill Development and Employment, Govt of Madhya Pradesh and AIIMS Bhopal to foster collaborative initiatives in biomedical engineering and technical skill development.

In his address Manu Srivastava highlighted the importance of bridging the gap between medical needs and engineering solutions. Inaugurating the facility, Prof (Dr) Ajai Singh, Executive Director, AIIMS Bhopal highlighted the need of medical innovation based on clinical gap analysis and patient centric solutions. He encouraged medical students, residents and faculties to translate ideas and research to innovative technologies and importance of collaboration with technological institutes. Importance of training and skilled manpower for development, repair and maintenance of medical instruments and equipments were also highlighted by him. Dr Neha Arya, Assistant Professor, Translation Medicine, Dr Babulal, Assistant Professor, Trauma and Emergency Medicine and Dr Saikat Das, Additional Professor of Radiotherapy and Associate Dean (Nursing and Allied Health Sciences) are the nodal officers of the center from AIIMS Bhopal.
