Police have arrested as many as four men for allegedly kidnapping a businessman’s minor daughter in Deogarh town, an official said on Sunday.
The accused were identified as Himanshu Narang, Deepak Nayak, Rohit Patra and Maheswar Sagadia of Deogarh district.
Cops recovered a car, two motorcycles and four mobile phones from their possession. The four-wheeler was used by them for abducting the six-year-old girl.
A case has been registered against them under relevant sections of the IPC while further probe was underway by police.
Deogarh SP Pradyumna Kumar Mishra said, “The four accused had hatched a plan to kidnap the girl in order to demand Rs 2 crore as ransom. They had planned to divide the amount among them equally to lead a luxurious life.”
Notably, the accused had allegedly abducted the child on December 18 evening while she was returning home from tuition classes with her grandmother.
Next day, a woman spotted the girl crying near a bridge in the Badagaon area of Sundargarh district as the kidnappers abandoned the child in fear of getting caught by police.
