In a major breakthrough, the Delhi Police Crime Branch, in collaboration with the Rajasthan Police, has successfully arrested three individuals, including two alleged shooters, in connection with the shocking murder of Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi. The incident, which occurred on December 5, saw Gogamedi fatally shot in the living room of his Jaipur residence.

Gogamedi fell victim to a fatal shooting in the confines of his Jaipur residence on December 5. Recent CCTV footage purportedly captured the assailants opening fire on Gogamedi, shedding light on the chilling events leading to his demise.

The police had identified the two alleged killers as Rohit Rathore from Jaipur and Nitin Fauji from Haryana’s Mahendragarh, and announced a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh for information leading to their arrests.

“A team of the Delhi Police Crime Branch, in a joint operation with the Rajasthan Police, arrested the two alleged killers Rohit Rathore, a resident of Rajasthan’s Jaipur and Nitin Fauji, a resident of Haryana’s Mahendragarh, from Chandigarh’s Sector 22. The duo were accompanied by one more associate, Udham Singh, who was also caught,” Delhi police sources said.

“The accused had checked in at Kamal Palace around 7.40 pm. They submitted photocopies of their Aadhaar cards and paid Rs 900 for a room for one day,” sources said. “Around 8 pm, a team, whose members were in plain clothes and uniforms, came and asked the receptionist about the two people wanted in a murder case. The team members showed photographs of the suspects to the hotel manager, Bhim Sen, who also arrived at the hotel. Later, the police team overpowered them,” added sources.

According to a Delhi Police officer, the accused will be handed over to the Jaipur Police for further interrogation. Additional Director General of Rajasthan Police (Crime) Dinesh MN said Fauji and Rathore were in hiding in Chandigarh.

“The SIT formed by the Rajasthan Director General of Police and the Delhi Police caught the accused late on Saturday,” Dinesh, who is supervising the 11-member SIT, said. During initial investigation, a property dispute angle between Godara and Gogimedi had come to light. The question of caste equation is also being investigated.

Sources have said the mastermind of the plot to kill the Rajput leader was Rajasthan gangster Rohit Godara, who is suspected to be living in Canada and closely associated with Goldie Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi’s gangs linked to last year’s murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala.

Godara assigned the task of killing Gogamedi and the responsibility of hiring a shooter to his lieutenant, Virendra Charan, sources said.

Charan and Godara met in a jail in Rajasthan’s Ajmer while serving time in a rape case.  Godara told investigators that Gogamedi had been instrumental in the filing of the rape case against him, for which he planned to take revenge, sources said.

Charan soon took advantage of Godara’s anger and prepared him to killed Gogamedi.

On Saturday, a man was arrested in Jaipur for allegedly contracting the shooters to kill Gogamedi.  According to the police, Ramveer Jat, one of the conspirators in the murder, had prepared the groundwork for Fauji -- his friend -- in Jaipur ahead of the killing.

The accused had entered the Gogamedi’s home on the pretext of meeting him and, after talking for a few minutes, opened fire at Gogamedi.

Police said that on November 9, Fauji and his associates fired on the police of Mahendragarh Police Station Sadar and absconded. During this period, Fauji sent his friend Ramveer to Jaipur on November 19.

They also shot dead their accomplice Naveen Shekhawat, through whom they had secured access to Gogamedi’s residence.  Gangster Rohit Godara, linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, had claimed responsibility for the murder, saying Gogamedi was backing his enemies.
