Two persons were killed and another sustained grievous injuries when the car by which they were travelling rammed into a tree on the roadside near Ranasankha under the Banki police limits in Cuttack district late on Sunday night.
Identities of the deceased persons and one injured were not ascertained yet.
According to a police source, the three persons were on their way from Athagarh locality to Mukundpur village in Banki to attend a Baraat (marriage procession) when they met with the accident. The driver lost control of the vehicle, which hit the tree leading to the deaths on the spot.
The injured man was rescued by locals and admitted to a government-run health facility in Banki for treatment. Later, the injured was shifted to the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack after his condition deteriorated.
A team of the Banki police reached the spot and seized the two bodies.
