The Jharkhand assembly on Tuesday witnessed uproarious scenes as three BJP legislators were suspended for the remainder of the winter session and marshalled out of the House for 'creating disturbances' in the proceedings. The opposition BJP termed the Speaker’s action as motivated by revenge and in retaliation to the suspension of MPs in Parliament.
On Tuesday as the House commenced, the Opposition BJP members staged a protest in the House over several issues including cash haul from Congress MP Dhiraj Sahu’s residences, ED summons to Chief Minister Hemant Soren and worsening law and order issue in the state. As the Opposition ruckus intensified, the speaker lost his cool and suspended two MLAs Bhanupratap Shahi and Biranchi Narayan from the entire session. BJP chief whip in house JP Patel was also marshal out from house.
The BJP members irked over suspension of Shahi and Narayan later walked out from the House. BJP MLAs termed this action taken by the Speaker as motivated by revenge. Leader of Opposition Amar Bauri said that retaliation has been taken here for the suspension of MPs in Parliament. We strongly oppose this. He said that if the government considers talking about the public, talking about the youth, talking about employment a crime, then we are criminals and will continue to commit this crime in future also.
During talks outside the House, Leader of Opposition Amar Bauri said that the House should consider the steps taken. Suspending MLAs is not justified at all. If the MLA does not put forward his point inside the House, then where will he put it? He said that we are with the party's decision. The speaker needs to consider this. If this is not done, we will meet Governor CP Radhakrishnan this evening and present our views. The step taken inside the House is completely motivated by retaliation.
Protesting outside the House, BJP MLAs raised slogans against the government regarding this step taken. MLA Amit Mandal said that the issue of Parliament was different and the issue here was different. He termed the steps taken by the Speaker as wrong. Said that we were talking in the interest of the youth. He said that the government has cheated the youth by making false promises. Apart from giving them jobs, they have also been deprived of examinations. We will oppose this both inside and outside the House. The medium of protest is movement which will continue.
Inside house legislators of the ruling coalition also reached there and demanded a resolution condemning the suspension of 92 members from Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha by the speaker.
Reacting to this, the leader of Opposition, Amar Bauri said that when they raised the issue of cash-haul linked to Congress MP Dhiraj Sahu, it was said that the matter was not related to the State assembly.
