A rally calling for 'Say No to Plastic' was conducted by the students of Pokhariput DAV Public School here on Sunday to create awareness about the negative effects of using plastic amongst the shopkeepers and the people in the vicinity.
Waving banners that said, 'Save earth and avoid polythene covers', holding placards that carried a green message, and raising slogans all along, the students distributed handmade cloth bags and paper bags in the shops of nearby areas and explained the positive aspects of using the biodegradable products. They explained to the passers-by the adverse effects of non-biodegradable material on animals, plants, marine species, and human beings.
Principal Bipin Kumar Sahu addressed the students and teachers, explaining the importance of a safe environment which is free of polythene and plastic. Smaranika Pattnaik, supervisor of class VI and VII coordinated.
