Haryana will develop the world’s largest jungle safari park in the Aravalli range. The 10,000-acre safari park will cover Gurugram and Nuh districts. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal on Wednesday reviewed the progress of the Aravalli Safari Park Project and the Rakhigarhi Museum at a meeting. At present, Sharjah is home to the largest curated safari park outside Africa. Opened in February 2022, the Sharjah Safari covers an area of about 2,000 acres. The jungle safari scheme will not only boost tourism but also provide employment opportunities to local residents.
At the meeting, the Haryana Chief Minister directed the officers to complete all formalities related to the safari park project which is being developed in line with the biodiversity park concept in a 10,000-acre in the Aravali region in Gurugram and Nuh districts. The safari will be developed in three phases, with the first phase expected to be completed in around two years.
Later while interacting with the media persons, he informed that 10,000 acres of land in the Aravalli area of Gurugram and Nuh districts had been identified for jungle safari park.
“Two firms with international experience in designing and operating such facilities were shortlisted for participating in Stage-2. A detailed technical proposal and presentation along with conceptual design accessed by the tender evaluation committee and suggestion for selection of the winning firm submitted to the Government for approval. The PMC will soon be selected for the development of Aravalli Safari Park,” said Khattar.
At the meeting, a wide range of key issues related to these projects were discussed in detail.
The proposed Aravalli park would include a large herpetarium (a zoological exhibition space for reptiles and amphibians), aviary/bird park, four zones for big cats, a large area for herbivores, an area for exotic animal birds, an underwater world, nature trails, visitors, tourism zones, botanical gardens, biomes, equatorial, tropical, coastal, desert, etc.
According to officials, the locals of Bhondsi, Ghamroj, Alipur, Tikli and Aklimpur, Naurangpur and Bar Gujjar villages in Gurugram and Kota Khandewla, Gangani, Mohamadpur Ahir, Kharak, Jalalpur, Bhango and Chalka villages in Nuh will benefit from the project.
He said a lake for migratory birds, similar to Sultanpur Lake, would be developed. The design of the Rakhigarhi Museum is almost final. Divulging the details about the construction of a museum in Rakhigarhi, the Chief Minister said that the State Government is working with the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Government of India for the development of the Rakhigarhi Site Museum and Interpretation Centre.
