Ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP’s national office bearers met on Friday to deliberate and chart out the party’s strategy for the upcoming polls. The two-day meeting was chaired by BJP chief JP Nadda and attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP State presidents, incharge of different States, and organisational general secretaries of States, among others. The BJP’s national office bearers also discussed the results of the recently concluded Assembly polls in five States.
Addressing the office bearers, sources said Prime Minister Narendra Modi appreciated the hard work done by workers and leading the three States to an excellent win. He mentioned that in the coming days, they have to work even harder and that not a single seat where the party contests should be taken lightly.
“Each vote, each seat is valuable to maintain the momentum of growth in the nation. All should carry forward the Viksit Bharat Yatra ahead,” sources quoted Modi in the meeting. He will address the party leaders again on Saturday at the party’s national headquarters.
Sources said that in the meeting, various morcha (wings) and State units shared details of their ongoing organisational exercises and would be given directions by senior leaders with an eye on the polls. The BJP won in three of the five States, a major boost to its campaign for the Lok Sabha polls. While outlining campaign programmes, the party is expected to give special focus to southern States. The sources said the party discussed the strategy for Lok Sabha polls in light of efforts by INDIA alliance parties to contest the polls together.
The ongoing “Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan”, a flagship Central Government programme aimed at ensuring saturation coverage of its numerous welfare schemes, the results of the recent five Assembly polls, and the party’s nationwide plans on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee are among the issues likely to be discussed in the meeting.
Earlier, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, along with his deputies Rajendra Shukla and Jagdish Devda, met the Prime Minister, followed by a few Union ministers as part of the first official visit of the new State leadership to Delhi.
The CM and the Deputy CMs met Modi at his official residence at Lok Kalyan Marg and informed him “about the development works being undertaken in the state and obtained the guidance of the prime minister,” a State Government spokesperson said. The BJP returned to power in Madhya Pradesh after a landslide victory in the Assembly polls.
