A team of Prayagraj field unit of Special Task Force (STF) arrested a wanted cattle smuggler near Chheoki railway station under Naini police station. Mohamad Anees carried a reward of Rs 25,000.
STF DSP Navendu Kumar, said a team of UP STF led by sub-inspector Dharmendra Singh got a tip off about presence of Anees near Chheoki railway station. “The team immediately rushed to the site and arrested Anees who was on his way to his home in Pratapgarh from Mumbai,” said the DSP.
During interrogation, Anees confessed that he along with his family members was involved in cattle smuggling and sale of beef. He along with his father and brother had even gone to jail in this connection in 2020 in Pratapgarh. Besides having cases registered against him at Mandhata police station of Pratapgarh, he also has a criminal case lodged at Raniganj police station of Pratapgarh, Kumar said.
Anees, after getting released from jail, had fled to Mumbai to evade police action following provisions of Gangsterx Act being invoked against him. He remained in Mumbai for two years making a living by driving a taxi and decided to return home for the forthcoming festival of Eid al-Adha, the DSP said.
SHIFTED: Police Commissioner Ramit Sharma is now in a mood to crack down on station house officers. A day ago after sending Karchhana police station inspector to the Lines and appointing new incharges in Karchhana and Khuldabad, the workplace of 10 more inspectors and sub-inspectors has been changed. Of these, inspector Bara, Sarai Mamrej and Mauaima have been sent to the Lines.
Inspector Virendra Kumar Sonkar, who was in charge of Kheri police station in Yamunanagar, will now be SHO Bara Kotwali. Inspector Sanjay Kumar Dwivedi, who was in charge of election cell, has been made in charge of Kaundhiyara police station. Bara Inspector Anil Kumar has been sent to the Lines by police commissioner. Sub-inspector Naveen Kumar Singh, who was till now posted as SSI in Kaundhiyara police station, has been sent to the vacant seat of station head Kheri after Virender Kumar Sonkar was given the charge of Bara police station.
Inspector Virendra Kumar Sonkar has been shifted from Kaundhiyara and made in-charge of Mauaima police station. Sarai Mamrej police station incharge Tarunendra Tripathi and Mauaima Inspector Suresh Singh were sent to the Lines. Yogesh Pratap Singh, who was SHO of Atarsuiya, has been given the charge of Sarai Mamrej. Inspector Ashwini Kumar has been posted as SOG in charge from Police Line while SOG in-charge inspector Vinod Kumar Yadav has been made inspector-in-charge of Atarsuiya police station.
