Ahead of the visit of Defence Minister Rajanth Singh to the frontier districts of Rajouri and Poonch on Wednesday, the Indian army has further intensified its relentless search and combing operations in the general area of Dera ki Gali of Surankote tehsil to track down the footprints of the foreign terrorists.
During his day-long visit, the Defence Minister is also scheduled to chair a high-level security review meeting here at Raj Bhawan with the top brass of the senior army, police, and UT administration.
Army Chief General Manoj Pande during his visit to Rajouri on Monday had directed the field commanders to conduct operations in the “most professional manner”.
Four soldiers were killed in action when these suspected foreign terrorists ambushed two army vehicles in the Dera Ki Gali area of Surankote tehsil in Poonch district on December 21. The terrorists had taken advantage of the poor road conditions and thickly forested belt, far away from the nearest residential habitats to target the army vehicles.
To prevent further collateral damage the security forces are very patiently conducting these search operations.
