Rang De Korea, the festival organized by the Korea Cultural Centre India (KCCI) here on December 10 showcasing a variety of Korean cultural aspects, ranging from leading Korean brands such as LG, Hyundai, Kia, Orion, Atomy, Innisfree, Sulwhasoo, and Laneige to K-PoP and K-fashion was a huge delight for the South Korean culture fans across age and gender in India.
Saurabh Kumar, Secretary East Asia, Ministry of External Affairs, highlighted the support provided by the Republic of Korea to infrastructure projects in India, and the steady growth in cooperation areas, including defense. The festival marked the conclusion of the 50th-anniversary celebrations of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Korea Ambassador Chang Jae-bok outlined three key goals set by the embassy earlier in the year, focusing on increasing high-level interactions, fortifying economic relations, and fostering people-to-people contacts.
Over 500 Korean companies are currently investing in India, and bilateral trade reached a record high of almost 28 billion US dollars last year.
Hwang Il Yong, Director of the KCCI, expressed satisfaction with the success and interest generated by the “Rang De Korea” festival, stating that it is thriving in India.
The experiential booth where Korean Wave in India was showcased through the participation of Korean companies operating in India such as Orion, Atomy, Innisfree, Sulwhasoo, Laneige, Etude, and CJ to other Korean companies building brands in India such as Korikat, Sazaxa, and Dalgrak among others were a huge draw.
The festival featured various traditional Korean performances, including Namsadangnori, Pansori, tightrope walking, Pungmul, Beona, and modern fusion performances like Gwangtal. Additionally, X:IN, a K-Pop multinational girl group that included the first Indian member in K-pop history, was a highlight of the evening. The event was hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Korea and organized by the Korean Embassy, Korean
Cultural Centre India, and Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange.
