Dilbagh retires as J&K DGP after 3 decades of service

The Director General of Jammu and Kashmir police, Dilbagh Singh, a 1987 batch IPS officer, hanged his boots after serving the Jammu and Kashmir police for over three long decades on Tuesday.

Singh handed over the baton to one of his subordinate officers, Rashmi Ranjan Swain, currently serving as the Special DG (CID). 

Before the senior officers exchanged the ceremonial baton Dilbagh Singh was given a warm sendoff at the police headquarters in Srinagar. 

Several senior IPS officers along with Special DG (CID) Rashmi Ranjan Swain, escorted the outgoing DGP  by pulling a ceremonial rope tied to the vehicle. His family members were also present on the occasion.

Dilbagh Singh was appointed police chief in the first week of September 2018.  He remained the police chief for the longest term so far.Meanwhile, on his arrival at the PHQ, a 1991 batch IPS officer R.R Swain inspected the guard of honour.

 Before taking over as DGP Jammu and Kashmir Swain remained posted at various important and key positions of Jammu and Police. In November 2006 he went on deputation to Govt of India where he held very prestigious posts. In June 2020, RR Swain joined the J&K Police as head of the CID wing and today took over the charge of the 17th DGP J&K Police.
