Coast Gaurd conducts Maritime Law & Operations Course for officers

In an effort to have better understanding of laws and operations in the maritime domain, the Indian Coast Guard conducted nearly a month-long Maritime Law and Operations Course for Officers from Friendly Foreign Countries (FFCs) from February 13 to March 10.

Giving details of the extensive course, Coast Guard officials said here on Sunday, the training capsule was conducted at the Coast Guard Training Centre (CGTC), Kochi. The Maritime Law and Operations Course is conducted under the aegis of Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme which is a leading capacity building platform of the Ministry of External Affairs. The four weeks professional course witnessed one of the highest ever participation from the Friendly Foreign Countries wherein a total of 26 Officers participated. This batch of International Trainee comprised Officers from Bangladesh, Togo, Myanmar, Malaysia, Mozambique, Philippines, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Vietnam, Guinea Mauritius and Tanzania.

The CGTC (Kochi) is the only training centre of the Indian Coast Guard where training on the Maritime subjects such as Search and Rescue (SAR), Marine Pollution Response (MPR) and Maritime Law are imparted to the Officers and Personnel Below Officers Rank (PBOR) from the Coast Guard and other Maritime Agencies of the FFCs
