After Sanjay Saini aka Sanju’s Rocky Mental, a sports action drama, which released in 2017, Akhada, another sports-based web series is all set to air on Stage app on July 25, 2022.
When asked why the writer is inclined more towards writing sports-based films, he says: “Whenever we talk about Haryana, we get a clear picture of sports, players and wrestlers and that too of international level.” Sanju, who hails from Jind, Haryana says that the decision of writing Akhada’s story was to bring forth the struggle and background of wrestlers along with the inextricable role of their families. Being based on real life events, web series Akhada reflects a true picture of akhadas in Haryana. He also chose to stick to Haryanvi to put emphasis on the geographical and cultural essence of the events.
