Workshop on Bio-Medical Waste Management Rules in BSL

At the Human Resource Development Center of BSL to spread awareness about Bio-Medical Waste Management Rules-2016 and methodology of proper segregation, pre-treatment and disposal of Bio-Medical Waste generated in Hospitals, Pathological Labs and Clinics. Consequently handholding interaction session was organized on Bio-Medical Waste Management Rules-2016 in collaboration with Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board (JSPCB) with the objective of providing information on the methodology for proper segregation, pre-treatment and disposal of Bio-medical waste generated in clinics and various concern centers.

During this occasion CGM (Town Administration) BS Popli, Chief Medical Officer (Medical & Health Services) Dr. Pankaj Sharma, RO (JSPCB) Rampravesh Kumar, Additional Medical Officer (MHS) Dr. Varsha Ghanekar Representatives of various hospitals, pathological labs and clinics of Bokaro along with General Manager (ECD) Naveen Prakash Srivastava were present.

Naveen Prakash Srivastava initially welcomed all the guests and participants and highlighted the importance of proper segregation, pre-treatment and disposal of bio-medical waste. Addressing the participants, BS Popli said that bio-medical waste should not be mixed with Townships solid waste which is harmful to human health and environment. Rampravesh Kumar said that the hand-holding cum interaction session on Bio-Medical Waste Management Rules 2016 will help various pathological labs, hospitals and clinics in Bokaro and surrounding areas in proper implementation of Bio-Medical Waste Management Rules at their respective locations.

It is worth mentioning that Bokaro General Hospital is the first hospital in Jharkhand to have installed its captive incinerator in 2015 for proper disposal of bio-medical waste generated in BGH and Hospital has been ranked as the best hospitals in Jharkhand in terms of proper bio-medical waste disposal. BGH was also honored for the same by Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board in Ranchi on the occasion of World Environment Day 2016.
