The VSSUT (Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology) will get converted to a Central Funding Technical Institute (CFTI), to expand its domain further.
VSSUT VC Prof Dr Bansidhar Majhi, in a media conference here recently, informed steps are taken to upgrade the university with Central funding to match the international standard. “Technical institutions junior to VSSUT are much ahead of it. Hence, Central status for the premier technical institute is long overdue," said VC Prof Majhi.
“We have submitted a proposal to the Government of Odisha so as to forward it to the Union Ministry of Education to convert VSSUT Burla to a ‘Multidisciplinary Education and Research University’ (MERU) in the line of NEP (National Education Policy) – 2020 and also give it Central Funding Technical Institute (CFTI) status,” informed the VC.
Highlighting the achievements of the university, the VC further said that the university is continuously improving its NIRF ranking at the national level in successive years. It has been ranked 116th in 2021 as against 119th in 2020, he said.
The university has signed MoU with ASSOCHAM, Powertech Consultant, NITTTR Kolkata, CIPET Baleswar for consultancy, faculty exchange, training and skill development, the VC informed further.
He also cast light on the 13th annual convocation to be held on January 31 in online mode in which 1,234 students will get their most coveted degrees. The faculties of the VSSUT were present and spoke on unique achievements of their respective departments and also team works for different innovating purposes.
