In a major achievement, Uttar Pradesh has recorded the lowest unemployment rate of 2.9 per cent as per the latest survey released by the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE).

UP has outclassed states like Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Kerala and Tamil Nadu in providing employment to the jobless.

Uttar Pradesh is followed by Tamil Nadu with an unemployment rate of 3.2 per cent, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh with 5.8 per cent each, West Bengal with 6.2 per cent and Punjab with 7.2 per cent.

The CMIE, the organisation monitoring unemployment and business activities in the country, has revealed that Rajasthan (28.8 per cent), Jharkhand (14.2 per cent) and Delhi (11.2 per cent) are the worst-hit states in terms of unemployment.

According to the monthly data of the CMIE, the unemployment rate in Uttar Pradesh has reduced to 2.9 per cent in April 2022, from 4.4 per cent in March this year. Notably, the Uttar Pradesh government, in its previous rule between 2017 and 2022, had set a record of providing over five lakh government jobs to the youth of the state.

The visionary policies and employment-oriented schemes initiated by the UP government have played a huge role in promoting the setting up of new businesses and simultaneously generating new job opportunities for the youth.

Due to the fast resumption of the economic activity, growth investment, and industry and trade in Uttar Pradesh, the state has reached the lowest level in terms of unemployment. Even after COVID-19, the UP government has left no stone unturned in providing employment to the youth.

Under Mission Rojgar, employment opportunities are being provided to the people of the state through various departments, institutions and corporations. In the last five years, under various schemes of self-employment of the Yogi Adityanath government, work has been done to connect about three crore people with employment.
