Uma Bharti questions linking Draupadi Murmu’s candidature with her caste

Friday, 24 June 2022 | Staff Reporter | BHOPAL

Madhya Pradesh's firebrand BJP leader and former Chief Minister Uma Bharti has given a statement on the selection of Draupadi Murmu ji as NDA's presidential candidate. In fact, she has said that by her selection, NDA has not done any favour to her, but her turn came to her by virtue of her capabilities.
Uma Bharti has said to link the presidential candidature with caste politics by the media and BJP should be avoided as the President of India is the constitutional head of the country. The position does not belong to any caste. Therefore, the statement should not be made out of the desire to take political advantage.
Uma further said that making Draupadi Murmu ji the NDA's presidential candidate is not doing her any favours, she is a deserving woman in every way. What else is needed to become the President of India, which is a perfect combination of educational qualification, a vision of social service and a restrained cultured life, combination of mind, word and deed. So her own merit is the basis of selection for the candidature of this post. Murmu is the triple power of today's contemporary economic and political system. All those qualities are present in her which is the strength and specialty of our country.
Let us inform you that even a day earlier, Uma Bharti had tweeted, in which she had even asked Yeshwant Sinha to withdraw his name after NDA declared Draupadi Murmu as its candidate for the post of President of India saying that it is a pride and achievement for all of us.
