Tribal body demands Bharat Ratna for Kartik Oraon

Sunday, 30 October 2022 | `PNS | Ranchi

The birth anniversary of Kartik Oraon was celebrated on Saturday under the aegis of Ranchi Metropolitan and Ranchi District chapters of All India Tribal Development Council. A cut out of Karthik Oraon was installed at Piska Mode Chowk in Ranchi. It was decorated with a garland of flowers. His birth anniversary was celebrated with full rituals.

On this occasion, Ranchi Metropolitan president of the tribal body Pawan Tirkey said that Baba Karthik Oraon had done a lot of work for the tribals. Had Baba been there, today Jharkhand would have been different. “We all have to fulfil Baba's dreams together. Baba's dream was to open a Shakti Niketan University for the tribal people on the border of Jharkhand, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Odisha,” he said.

The members of the council said that Baba Karthik Oraon was an engineer. Birsa Agricultural University is his gift. Agricultural Engineering University should be established in his name. A demand was also made from the Government of India to give Bharat Ratna to Dr. Oraon.

Ranchi District President Kundarsi Munda said that many commendable works were done by Late Kartik Oraon. The Tribal Sub Plan for the tribals was brought by Karthik Oraon only, so that there is no obstacle in the development of the tribal. Had Baba been there today, Jharkhand would have had a different identity.

The members of the council said that today the tribals are fighting for their identity. They have not got the tribal religion code, due to which the census of Sarna tribal is not being done properly. The State government should understand this situation. Implement it in Jharkhand. Follow the footsteps and path of Baba from today's youth.

Kundarsi Munda, Pawan Tirkey, Durga Kachhap, Prakash Munda, Aman Munda, Anuj Hembrom, Vishnu Oraon, Tetri Oraon, Jena Oraon, Panchu Oraon, Ramu Oraon, Sita Tirkey, Suraj Oraon etc were present in the programme.
