Thursday, 01 December 2022 | PNS | Chandigarh

Society for the Care of the Blind, Sector-26, Chandigarh, on Wednesday celebrated its Golden Jubilee by holding a cultural programme at Tagore Theatre in Chandigarh.

Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Banwarilal Purohit inaugurated the event by lamp lighting ceremony, which was followed by cultural bonanza by the students with special needs who performed folk songs and folk dances, including bhangra and Haryanvi dance.

The event witnessed the attendance of students from various government and private schools.

Congratulating the Society for completing 50 years in education and rehabilitation of visually-handicapped children since 1972, Purohit appreciated the continuous efforts of employees, executive committee members, and volunteers who have carried out their duties with diligence and commitment.

Purohit further said that it was very heartening to note that all the students having passed out from its Institute are either undergoing higher studies or are well settled in their lives. “The Society is laying very strong foundation for the children to build their careers,” he said.

Col JS Bedi, the Society’s vice president, appealed to the public, in general, to come forward and join hands with the Society to promote its cause towards the welfare of the society in general.
