The Tata Group, which is going ahead with its Subarnarekha Port project at Chaumukh under Baliapal block, has offered training at JNTVTI (JN Tata vocational training institute), Jamshedpur to 33 eligible candidates, including three women, belonging to land losers category following their selection by a committee.
According to a company official here, these selected candidates would be given skill training ranging from one to six months and they would be given hundred percent placement in the vendor partners of Tata Steel.
“We had conducted written and viva voce tests for the candidates belonging to land sellers a couple of months ago. And out of them we have selected 60 in the first phase. In the next batch 27 others would move for training. The company has a plan of providing training to about 1,000 youths of the area with the priority to the land losers in a year and all of them would be given placements. When the construction for port would commence some of them would be given jobs after selection,” said head administration and community engagement, SSPL(Subarnarekha Port Private Limited) Pramod Kumar further, adding the company acquiring private lands for the purpose of rail lines between Baliapal and Amarda road and expanding and strengthening of roads.
Kumar further said that about 50 percent of required land for rail and road was already acquired.
Notably, the Tata Group has undertaken the port project costing about over Rs 5,000 crore following an MoU with the State Government.
The port is to be built on the sea coast at Chaumukh and no private land is required. Reclaimed and available Government would suffice the requirement.
Pramod Kumar also said that under the CSR activities the company had a plan of developing community and environment, including training to SHGs, beach beautification and promoting sports and games, etc.
