The Tata Group, which  is going ahead with its Subarnarekha Port project  at Chaumukh under Baliapal block, has offered training  at JNTVTI (JN Tata vocational training institute), Jamshedpur to 33  eligible candidates, including three women, belonging to land losers category  following their selection by a committee.

According  to a  company official  here, these selected candidates would be given  skill training ranging  from one to six months  and they would be given hundred percent placement  in  the vendor partners of Tata Steel.

“We had conducted written and viva voce tests for the candidates  belonging to land  sellers a couple of months ago. And out of them we have selected 60 in the first phase. In the next batch 27 others would move for training. The company has a plan of providing  training to about 1,000 youths of the area with the priority to the land losers in a year and all of them would be given placements. When the construction  for port would  commence  some of them would be given jobs after selection,” said head administration and community engagement, SSPL(Subarnarekha Port Private Limited) Pramod Kumar further, adding the company acquiring private lands for the purpose of rail lines between Baliapal and Amarda road  and expanding  and strengthening of roads.

Kumar further said that about 50 percent  of required land for rail and road was  already acquired.

Notably, the Tata Group has undertaken the port project  costing about over Rs 5,000 crore following an MoU with the  State Government.

The port is  to  be built on the sea coast at Chaumukh  and no private land  is required.  Reclaimed  and available Government would suffice the requirement.

Pramod Kumar also said that  under the CSR activities  the company  had a plan of developing  community and environment, including training to SHGs, beach beautification and promoting sports and games,  etc.
