Rupa Tirkey's mother writes to CBI for deeper probe

Wednesday, 01 June 2022 | PNS | Ranchi

The family of Rupa Tirkey has approached the CBI director to ensure that real accused persons are arrested and punished. 26 years old Rupa Tirkey was posted at Mahila police station in Sahebganj district. She was found hanging at her official quarter on the morning of May 3 last year. While the police initially concluded it as a case of suicide it later arrested her colleague SK Kanaujia for abetment of suicide. But the family blamed their daughter was murdered by some influential persons and moved a petition for the CBI probe at Jharkhand High Court.

The single bench of Justice Sanjay Kumar Dwivedi ordered the CBI probe and the CBI has taken-over investigation also. Rupa Tirkey's mother Padmavati Orain wrote a letter in which she blamed Pankaj Mishra and Dahu Yadav for sexually exploiting her daughter and said that both of them killed her.

See requested the CBI to investigate the role of two other lady cops. Padmavati said that her daughter during the course of her duty detained Pashupati Yadav who is the father of Dahu Yadav. She said that both are very influential persons of Sahibganj and they felt offended. She said that they forcefully released Pashupati Yadav from police custody and asked Rupa Tirkey to come to the residence of Pankaj Mishra. They persuaded Rupa Tirkey into a physical relationship. But she refused.

Her mother charged Sahibganj police for suppressing and destroying evidence that clearly indicated that Rupa Tirkey had not committed suicide, she rather was murdered. She said that the post-mortem was done in a very casual manner. Vicera was not preserved and the post-mortem report was prepared on the instruction of the magistrate. She said that witnesses and circumstance evidence clearly indicate that her daughter was murdered in a very cruel manner. But since suspects are politically well connected witnesses cannot dare to speak against them. She urged the CBI director to give necessary instruction to investigating officer to professionally investigate this case.

It should be noted that the CBI has recorded the statement of the family members, the doctor who did the post-mortem and many other persons.

In another development, her father Devanand Oraon has expressed concern over poor security for his family members. He said that initially, three security guards were provided for round-the-clock security. But the number of security guards has been reduced from three to two. She said that his two daughters and wife stay at home and adequate security should be provided as per the Jharkhand High Court order.
