Amidst the Punjab police getting tough against the organised gangs and gangsters operating in the State, the Canada-based gangster Satvinder Singh, known as Goldy Brar, on Monday threatened Punjab Jails Minister Harjot Singh Bains and the state Director General of Police (DGP) of some “bigger crime” if the jail authorities continue to harass their accomplices.
Responding to Brar’s “threatening” post on social networking site — Facebook — raising the matter of harassment of inmates in one of state's prisons, Punjab Jails Minister Harjot Singh Bains on Monday said that the prison officials in the State were committed to transforming jails into real ‘sudhar ghars’ (correctional facilities).
A Facebook post, purportedly in the name of Goldy Brar, alleged that Bathinda Jail authorities have asked for money from the parents of jail inmates Bobby Malhotra, Saraj Sandhu, Jagroshan Hundal. He also alleged that the cops were allegedly beating them up “without any reason”.
Brar, tagging the state’s Jail Minister Harjot Bains and Punjab DGP in his post, demanded that the inmates be shifted to another jail and strict action be taken against the DSP.
In his post, he warned that this way police was forcing them to commit “a bigger crime” again. Brar claimed that if they had got justice in Youth Akali leader Vicky Middukhera and Kabaddi player Sandeep Nangal Ambian case, they would not have killed Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.
“Our brothers Bobby Malhotra, Saraj Sandhu and Jagroshan Hundal are lodged in Bathinda jail. A DSP is harassing them and had thrashed them while demanding money. I request to jail Minister Harjot Bains that our brothers should be shifted out of Bathinda jail or the DSP should be shifted from there and an inquiry should be conducted. If any harm is done to our brothers, the jail police will be held responsible for it,” said Brar in his Facebook post, adding that the police should not provoke them to make some “bigger action”.
“We request DGP Gaurav Yadav and Harjot Bains to discharge their duty. If we would have got justice in killing of Vicky Middukhera and Sandeep Nangal Ambian, we would not have killed Sidhu Moosewala. Lastly, those who are making posts against us that they will take revenge, should take care of them,” he said.
Earlier, the members of rival Davinder Bambiha group had been sharing posts on the social media about taking “revenge” from Lawrance Bishnoi and Goldy Brar for the killing of singer Sidhu Moosewala.
Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead in Mansa district on May 29. The same day, Goldy Brar had taken responsibility for the murder. Later, he had said that he has no regrets on killing the singer.
Reacting to the post, the Jails Minister said that the gangsters are levelling false allegations because they cannot get illegal facilities in the jail like earlier. On threats, he said that nothing can stop him or the jail staff to prevent any illegal activity and maintain discipline.
Bains, in a tweet later, said: “Earlier Gangsters were getting VIP Facilities & Pizzas in Jails but not anymore. Since the day my CM has given me the Jail Portfolio; my all Officers are committed to transforming Jails into Real Sudhar Ghars. We are committed to Crime/Mobile/Drug Free Jails. NOTHING CAN STOP IT…”
