President Droupadi Murmu will inaugurate an e-ticketing system for Haryana Roadways on November 29 (Tuesday). With this, Haryana will become the first state in the country to implement an open loop ticketing system in the roadways.
The new e-ticketing system will not only benefit the passengers but would help the Haryana Roadways as well, said the government’s official spokesperson.
Spokesperson said that the Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had decided to replace the existing manual printed ticket system with open loop ticketing system in the state transport. Under this, the National Common Mobility Card will be implemented in place of a paper pass and printed ticket system; and no less than 10 lakh National Common Mobility Cards will be issued to free or concessional bus passengers and other passengers.
In the initial phase, this ticketing project will be implemented in six roadways depots — Chandigarh, Karnal, Faridabad, Sonipat, Bhiwani and Sirsa. Similarly, the project will be completely implemented by the end of January 2023 in the remaining 18 depots of Haryana Roadways.
Spokesperson said that the National Common Mobility Card will be used separately for travel across India. Other states are also working in the direction of National Common Mobility Card, but Haryana is ahead of all to implement this visionary plan. This card will be used in future for traveling in metro, bus, train etc; and will also be used for almost all the transport options.
“Haryana Roadways will also benefit from the new ticketing system as this will completely stop the revenue leakage. Through this concrete system, passengers getting exemption in Haryana Roadways would be easily identified,” added the spokesperson.
Apart from this, those travelling on fake passes can also be curbed, besides saving the use of paper for generating tickets and passes etc, added the spokesperson.
Spokesperson added that with digital data, buses can be easily operated on the routes where there are more passengers. There will be a card-based payment model, through which payment can be made offline and also through credit, debit and prepaid cards, the spokesperson added.
