After getting strong assurance of IG Prisons Diptesh Kumar Pattanaik, the Pallahara Bar Association called off its 19 days long agitation on Friday. The Sub Divisional Judicial Court will be opened from Saturday, said Bar Association president Monoranjan Pal at a Press meet here.
The lawyers had stayed away from work in the Sub Divisional Judicial Court since August 8 protesting against the shifting of sub jail and establishment of Civil Judge Senior Division Court in Pallahara.
The agitation had received full support from different organizations and people from all walks of life. Pallahara MLA Mukesh Pal had also backed the strike and Pallahara Bandh for 12 hr on August 23. A team of lawyers including Prasanta Pradhan, Manas Bhanja, Binod Sahu, Tanmaya Sahoo and Soroj Mahanty led by Bar Association president Pal met the IG Prisons. Pallahara MLA Pal was also present.
IG Prisons Pattanaik assured that the Sub Jail will not be shifted from Pallahara but the prisoners will be displaced for the time being as the jail will undergo modification work. The team also met HC senior Judge Anrindam Sinha and discussed about the execution of Civil Judge Senior Division Court at Pallahara.
