Over 10L water tap connection in villages under ‘Jal Jeevan’

The Chhattisgarh government is committed to supply pure drinking water in rural areas and a total of 10,02,756 household tap connections have been installed so far under the Jal Jiwan Mission, an official said.

The Mission Director of the scheme, Topeshwar Verma, said: “Work is being done expeditiously to complete the works of Jal Jeevan Mission in the stipulated time frame."

A detailed review of the works of solar-based, retrofitting, multi village and single village schemes is being done from time to time, he said.

The officials concerned have been instructed to make necessary arrangements for providing running water in schools, sub-health centers and Anganwadi centers, ISA training and complete the work of wall writing and painting to promote the works of Jal Jeevan Mission in a time bound manner, Verma said.

Along with this, instructions have also been given to ensure data entry of all the progress works in the IMIS portal.

A provision of Rs 1,000 crore has been made for Jal Jeevan Mission in the state budget for 2022-23.

The government is making all possible efforts to supply 55 liters of water per person per day under the mission, Verma said.
