The construction works of three out of the six lanes of
second bridge over river Brahmani at Balughat in Rourkela would be
completed within the next 15 days, said Chief Secretary Suresh
Mahapatra on Saturday.
After the completion of the three lanes, one side of the bridge would be
open for traffic and vehicles would start plying, he said.
The Chief Secretary also assured that the six-laning works of the bridge
would be completed by the end of June.
Mahapatra reviewed the execution of the bridge which has been delayed
for a long time. He asked officials to ensure early completion of the
project works.
“There had been delay in execution of second bridge on Brahmani
River. We have decided that one side of the bridge will be opened within
15 days. The six-lane bridge works will completely open by June-end,”
he said.
During his visit to Rourkela, Mahapatra reviewed the progress of various
projects including Birsa Munda international hockey stadium, the
hosting place of the 2023 Men's FIH Hockey World Cup, Panposh
market and airport.
Mahapatra also reviewed various projects during his Sundargarh visit.
He took stock of two barrage projects on Ib river at Kopasingha and
Kudabanga and order completion of the projects within the deadline.
“The tender process for two barrages on Ib river has been completed.
Soon the work orders will be issued. The barrages will come up at
Kopasingha and Kudabanga,” Mahapatra said.
