Medi-Caps seminar on Indore Smart City

Medi-Caps Innovative and Incubation Centre of Medi-Caps University organized anseminar on "Interactive Session on Initiatives of Indore Smart City".

The speaker was Rishav Gupta, the CEO of  Smart City, Indore. Rishav Gupta is a graduate in Electrical Engineering from IIT Delhi and an IAS of 2014 batch.

As CEO of Smart city Indore, he is spearheading  initiatives for carbon credits-being the first city in Asia to earn from Carbon credits; building sludge treatment plants; doing GIS mapping of the city for efficient delivery of services and redevelopment of several heritage structures. He is also in-charge of Smart Seed Incubation Centre which is envisaged as the future startup capital for central India.

The event was organized to create the awareness amongst the faculty members about the internship opportunities available at the project of Smart City at Indore and how students of different domain can work together with faculty members and contribute towards solution to a number of problems faced during the project.

At the start of his talk, Rishav Gupta explained the functions and requirement of an Incubation Centre. Being in-charge of Seed Incubator, he explained its working. He also explained, what is a Startup and why is important for Higher Education Institute to prepare students for launching startups.

He urged faculty members to prepare students to take-up internship or mini-projects in the ongoing Smart City project work and suggested various fields for engineering domains like-traffic and power plant controlling, data analytics by using python, decision making with AI and ML, design of electric vehicles and charging stations etc.

He also explained the concept of smart city and that of carbon credit and its importance. He explained the various problems in converting existing city into a smart city like- shifting of locality, destroying encroachments, shifting of sewage and water supply lines, electricity poles, and underground telephone cables without or with minor damages.  The session was quite interactive. Registrar Dr. AnkurSaxena, Deans and HODs of different faculties participated.

At the beginning, Prof (Dr.)Dilip KumarPatnaik, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor welcomed the speaker with a sapling and at the end presented a  memento as a token of gratitude. Prof(Dr.) D.K. Panda, Hon'ble Pro-Vice Chancellor offered Vote of Thanks.  Prof. PreetiYadav (Member, MIIC) moderated the event.
