Before the start of December intense cold conditions have started to be witnessed in the state as mercury dipped to 6.3 degree celsius, and the state is firmly in the grip of cold conditions.
Nowgong was the coldest place in the state by recording night temperature at 6.3 degree celsius. Bhopal recorded night temperature at 12.4 degree celsius while day was recorded at 26.3 degree celsius. Among the nearby areas of the state capital regions which was coldest was Raisen which recorded night at 7.2 degree celsius.
The major cities are witnessing severe cold weather conditions,Indore recorded night temperature at 12.2 degree celsius, Jabalpur recorded night temperature at 10.7 degree celsius while Gwalior was the coldest city among the major cities by recording night temperature at 8.9 degree celsius.
Trend of intense cold weather conditions was witnessed across the state and several regions recorded night temperature below 10 degree celsius.
The regions which recorded night temperature below 10 degree celsius were (in degree celsius) Datia 8.4, Rajgarh 9.5, Umaria 8.7, Narsinghpur 8.8.
According to the Met, the effect of the cold will increase from December 5 and at the same time, the mercury is likely to remain below 8 degree celsius in most of the cities.
According to the information, due to the northern winds coming from the Himalayas, fluctuations in temperature are being seen across the state including Bhopal, Indore for the past 2-3 days. It is estimated to remain like this for the next 72 hours but after that the temperatures would steep decline.
