As many as 15 patients, who had been admitted in the diarrhea ward at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) here, fell ill after being administered Ringers Lactate (RL) solution saline on Monday evening. Two patients were shifted to the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack after their conditions turned critical.
The DHH authorities ordered the Drug Inspector to conduct a probe into the matter.
The saline was removed from patients and the saline bottles and their manufacturing details were being verified, informed ADMO Dr Ajaya Kumar Swain. Attending nurses reported to the ward doctor, who instructed them to disconnect the saline from the patients. But meanwhile, 15 patients reported sick.
