Sudhir Kumar Saxena, a senior officer of the 1987 batch of the Indian Police Service, took over as the Director General of Police, Madhya Pradesh on Friday evening.
On reaching the State Police Headquarters to take over as the Director General of Police, Saxena was given a guard of honour. Director General of Police Vivek Johri handed over the charge to him. Sudhir Kumar Saxena was earlier posted as Secretary (Security), Cabinet Secretariat, Government of India.
Saxena, a senior officer of the Indian Police Service, is a Post Graduate (M.Tech) in Engineering. He was awarded the President's Meritorious Service Medal in the year 2003 and the Vishisht Seva Medal in the year 2012 for his remarkable police work. Apart from this, Deputy Inspector General of Police AJK has also been posted as Police Headquarters and CID Police Headquarters. Saxena has experience of working as Deputy Inspector General of Police, CBI and Additional Director General of Police CISF at the Centre.
Meanwhile On the occasion of retirement of Director General of Police Shri Vivek Johri, a farewell parade was organized at Motilal Nehru Police Stadium, Bhopal.
Addressing on the occasion of his retirement, Johri said that he tried to fulfill the oath taken at the time of appointment with full dedication and sincerity with the support of his colleague and subordinate staff during his long service. Retirement is an essential process that ensures new people and innovations in services.
