India's sages, saints enlighten the world

Thursday, 13 October 2022 | PNS | Ayodhya

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said when the whole world, including developed countries were not civilised, and was struggling with the darkness of ignorance, India's sages and saints were enlightening the world with their knowledge.

Addressing a gathering of saints, devotees and people at Ram Mantrath Mandapam in Ayodhya on the occasion of the silver jubilee celebrations of Shri Ram Mantra Mahayagya, Gorakshpeethadhishwar, Yogi said that we all were blessed to be born in India.

An epic like the Mahabharata also bears testimony to India's rich history since ancient times. When it was written by Ved Vyas 5000 years ago, these developed countries were hidden in the darkness of anonymity.

Quoting one of the sages of ancient time Yogi said, "Durlabham Bharate Janam Manushyam Tatra Durlabham, which means that it was a good and rare fortune to be born in India because the world was in darkness while India's sages and saints were illuminating the world with their knowledge," Yogi said.

The CM said that whatever the saints gained in terms of knowledge through sadhana (meditation), they used it for the welfare of people and not for selfish ends. "The tradition of this Peeth has also been similar. Whatever the saints achieved through spiritual practice, they used it for public welfare with the blessings of the Lord," he added.

The CM said that this was the effect of meditating over and chanting mantras of Lord Ram. The revered Mahant of Shri Ram Harshan Kunj Peeth got enlightenment (siddhi) after chanting Shri Ram Mantra 130 million times, and used his knowledge as a medium for public welfare.

"No one had thought that a grand Ram temple would ever be built in Ayodhya. People had lost hope for it. But the chanting of Ram Mantras by the revered saints and their perseverance paid off and today it is being built. The revered saints chanted Ram Mantras while Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Ramsevaks (kar sevaks) made efforts on the ground. Ram temple in Ayodhya is a result of coordination in conduct and thought", the CM said.

He also called for holding a lot of spiritual programmes in the next one and a half years. "The light of Ayodhya should reach every nook and corner of the country and the world. We must make efforts in this direction. From now on, every ashram must organise grand events of Ramayana recitation, Sankirtana, story-telling etc. The message of Ayodhya should travel the entire universe", CM concluded.
