The Yogi Adityanath government, which is strengthening the road infrastructure in the state, is also making efforts to improve its quality. Under this, for the first time in the country, a road is being constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana in Uttar Pradesh with FDR (full depth reclamation) technology.
Impressed by this technology, teams of engineers, consultants, technical experts are coming to the state from different states of the country to take training. According to an official communiqué released on Saturday, with the efforts of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh is emerging as a model in the whole country after use of FDR technology in the construction of old roads in rural areas of the state under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. With this technology, while on the one hand the road is being built at a low cost, on the other, the technology is also very effective in terms of environmental protection. Actually, coal tar is not used in the manufacture of roads in this technology. Along with this, other things including scrap material of the old road are used to build the road again. In this case, there is no cost on transportation. The life of the road made by this technology is also very long.
The first 100 km-long road was constructed as a pilot project. After its successful results, 1,200 km of road was constructed. Chief Executive Officer of Uttar Pradesh Rural Road Development Agency, Bhanu Chandra Goswami, said that the cost of road construction was also reduced with FDR technology.
In normal ways, Rs 1.30 crore are spent to build a road five and a half metres wide and one kilometer long, whereas just about Rs 98 lakh is spent on making a road of same length and width with this technique.
Goswami said that being impressed by this technology, engineers, consultants and technical experts from different states of the country are coming to UP to take training on it. Teams from states like Tripura, Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Assam have come for training. Along with this, the team here has given training to build roads with FDR technology in Rajasthan and Bihar.
He said that about 57,000 km of PMGSY roads in the state had been adapted for upgradation in 63 districts for being made with the help of FDR technology. The Public Works Department has also decided to make its own roads with this technology.
