BJD candidate Majulata Kanhar, a resident from a slum, was elected as the Deputy Mayor of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Saturday.
The Corporator of Ward-22 was elected uncontested as the rival parties failed to field their candidates for the post.
Of the total 67 BMC wards, the BJD has won 48 Corporator seats. While 10 wards have gone to the BJP, Independents have won nine. The Congress has failed to open its account.
Earlier in the day, newly-elected Bhubaneswar Mayor Sulochana Das took oath of office after winning big in the BMC polls.
