The by-election for the Bhanupratappur Assembly constituency (ST) in Chhattisgarh will be held on December 5, Chief Electoral Officer Reena Babasaheb Kangale said on Saturday.
The election model code of conduct has become effective in Kanker district, she said.
She said the notification for the election will be issued on November 10. The last date for filing nomination is November 17.
The papers will be scrutinized on November 18. The last date for withdrawal of nomination is November 21.
The polling is scheduled on November 5 and the votes will be counted on December 8.
She said the constituency has 243 polling stations. There will be five model polling stations and five all-women polling stations.
Voters can be identified through voter photo identity card and other 12 documents approved by the Election Commission.
She said the total number of voters is 1,95,678 including 95,186 males and 1,00,491 females besides one from the third gender. The number of voters rose by 5,514 from 2018.
The voter turnout in 2018 was 77.25 percent and 79.26 percent in 2013.
The turnout in the Lok Sabha polls in 2019 was 71.09 percent.
The candidates will have facility of online filing of nomination, affidavit and online submission of security deposit. It is also mandatory to submit the hardcopy to the Returning Officer, she said.
No rallies can be held from 10 pm to 6 am.
The limit of election expenditure to be incurred by the candidate will be Rs.40.00 lakh.
The by-poll follows the death of Congress MLA and Deputy Speaker Manoj Singh Mandavi.
