The Vigilance police on Wednesday caught Debadatta Biswal, Revenue Inspector (RI), Balianta in Khordha district red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000.
Biswal had demanded the bribe from a person as an advance to the total bribe demand of Rs 40,000, towards partition of 47 decimals of paternal homestead land among brothers.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches were carried out on the house of Biswal at Aurobinda Nagar, Kajidiha under the Madhupatna police station in Cuttack and his office room.
Later, he was arrested and forwarded to court.
