The Badrinath temple and various shrines associated with it will remain closed during the total lunar eclipse on November 8. Along with Badrinath about 17 associated temples in various parts of the State will remain closed during the eclipse. The Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) media in-charge Harish Gaur informed that Badrinath and all other shrines under the temple committee will be closed at the start of the Sutak period during the eclipse. According to astrological calculations, the total lunar eclipse will start at 1:32 PM and end at 7:27 PM. In India the eclipse will begin at 5:32 PM and end at 6:18 PM. Though the period of the eclipse will be comparatively limited, the temples will be closed during the morning itself due to the Sutak period. The Badrinath temple and other associated shrines will be closed at 8:15 AM. The Abhishek, routine ritual worship and Bal Bhog will be offered while devotees will be allowed to pay obeisance to the deity before the temple is closed in the morning. The temples will be reopened at 6:25 PM. After ritual purification the Abhishek and other rituals will be conducted. As done daily, the Shayan Arti will be conducted and then the Badrinath and all other associated temples will be closed for the night.
In addition to the Badrinath temple, the various other associated shrines including Lakshmi temple, Matamurti temple, Adikedareshwar temple, Narsinh temple in Joshimath, Vasudev temple, Durga temple, Yog Badri temple in Pandukeshwar, Dhyan Badri in Ugram, Bhavishya Badri in Subhai, Tapovan, Omkareshwar temple in Ukhimath, Madhyamaheshwar, Triyuginarayan, goddess Kali temple in Kalimath, Gopal temple in Nandprayag, Navdurga temple in Tehri, Sadguru Dham temple in Sera and the Ma Durga temple at Chandrabani in Dehradun will be closed during the total lunar eclipse on November 8, said the BKTC media in-charge.
