Chhattisgarh Police have seized 34.50 kg of cannabis valued at Rs 1.70 lakhs and arrested two persons in Gariaband district who were transporting it from Odisha to Raipur.

Gariaband Superintendent of Police Bhojraj Patel on Saturday told The Pioneer over telephone that the arrested men were Manoj Isai (52) and Yogesh Tarak (40), both from Gariaband district.

The action was taken on Friday based on a tip that the contraband was being taken to Raipur from Odisha via the Gariaband National Highway NH-130C, Patel said.

The police stopped a bike (CG-06, GB-3007) proceeding to Raipur near Boriajhar village in the Chhura police station limits.

The contraband was found packed in three gunny bags. The bike and two mobile phones were also seized, the officer said.
