Foundation-stone for construction of a bridge over Sona river was laid at a programme held at Bhuyan-Roida village under Joda block of Keonjhar district on Thursday.

Champua MLA Meenakshi Mahanta who was the chief guest on the occasion told that the distance Joda and Bhuyan-Roida is only 4 km but tribal people  cover about 23 km distance via Bhadrasahi daily as there is no bridge over the Sona river which is flowing between the village and Joda. Notably, the villagers had been making demanding for construction of a bridge since long before different Governments  in power. Last time , Mohanta herself had also tried to pursusde the district administration to sanction funds from the DMF for the bridge but it was in vain. However, at long last, Tata Steel agreed to build a bridge.  Tata Steel GM (M & Q) Atul Bhattanagar  told that Tata Steel not only works for the nation building but also builds a bond with people of its periphery by undertaking many developmental projects. As a part of its CSR  initiatives, the bridge work will be taken up, he told and declared that the bridge will be completed by March 3, 2022.
