With the demand for plasma picking up, the State Government has issued direction to restart all six plasma banks and collect convalescent plasma from corona-recovered patients.
According to official sources, there is a stock of 750 units of plasma units in the State. While in Cuttack, there are 341units, in Bhubaneswar, 112, Brahmapur, 79, Koraput, 141, Burla, 46 and in Rourkela, 31 units of plasma are available.
As demand for plasma has picked up, the DGP, DG, Fire services have been requested to mobilise donors.
The district Collectors will be coordinating the efforts at district level and appeal for plasma donation will be made issued like last year. A mass appeal for plasma donation drive is being planned, said official sources. So far as oxygen support is concerned, the current availability of cylinders, as finalised by the technical committee headed by HoD Pulmonary Medicine, SCB MCH, can support 32,876 beds (16,077-general and critical care beds and 16,799-CCC beds).
However, fresh SOP has been issued in ensuring timely filling of oxygen cylinders, said an official. While oxygen consumption in the State is 42.10 MT per day, the production capacity is 129.68 MT per day through cylinders and 375 MT through LMO. Oxygen produced is based on requisition from the healthcare facilities, said sources.
So far as essential drugs and consumables are concerned, the State has 44,151 vials of Remdesivir injections, while the current consumption rate is 1,500 vials per day.
Tender has been floated for 3 lakh more vials. Similarly, 6, 03,302 Favipiravir 200mg tablets are in stock while current consumption rate is 4,500-5,000 tablets per day, said official sources.
