The Indian Police Service (IPS) 2011 batch, Sanjay Kumar Sain, who is currently posted as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in Delhi’s North East district has been awarded ‘Police Medal for Gallantry’ on the occasion of 75th Independence Day for his work during his tenure as Superintendent of Police (SP), Roing district, Arunachal Pradesh.
On May 4, 2019, Sain along with his team after receiving specific inputs about the movement of a gang of miscreants intending to rob the bank in the town swung into action and apprehended seven out of nine miscreants after an exchange of fire. Out of the seven, two miscreants belonged to the banned insurgent outfit NDFB-S.
The team also seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition along with equipment used to rob banks. The proactive efforts of the team not only led to arrest of deadly miscreants but also prevented damage to human life and property.
“After his tenure in Arunachal Pradesh, Sain was transferred to Delhi and was posted as Additional DCP in Shahdara district before taking over as DCP of North East district in February this year. He has been recently awarded with CP Commendation Disc for his exemplary work as ADCP Shahdara and DCP North East,” said Chinmoy Biswal, the spokesperson of Delhi Police.
Earlier, Sain had also been awarded FICCI Smart Policing Award for involving communities to fight drug menace in Roing district of Arunachal Pradesh.
