Regional Museum of Natural History, Bhopal is organising an Online Summer Nature Study Programme (Green Cubs) from June 15 to 25, 2021. Beenish Rafat, Scientist –C and programme coordinator of the museum gave detailed information on the topic Wilderness in the Dark to the participants in the second session of the program on Thursday.
Nearly 50 participants from all over the country joined in this programme.
During the programme, Beenish Rafat explained the participants in detail about the nocturnal animals, plants, their adaptations, their highly developed senses and enlightened them with the most different but captivating night life of forest. Rafat also briefed that these nocturnal creatures have large shiny eyes with ears adapted for better hearing and highly developed sense of smell helping these animals for finding food, protection and reproduction. In the end of the session, she said that it’s very unfortunate that human interference in different ways as, gradual development and expansion of technology, spatial disturbances and light pollution is affecting negatively in the behavioral pattern of animals and also made an appeal to stop light pollution to safeguard our environment.
Along with the above lecture museum also organised an online lecture on the occasion of World Day to Combat Desertification by Dr. Sudesh Waghmare on the topic ‘Land restoration can contribute greatly to post COVID 19 economic recovery’.
