The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) has attained its highest ever pass percentage as 95.93 per cent of students who registered for matriculation examination have been declared passed the results of which was declared today. State Education Minister Jagarnath Mahto on Thursday declared the JAC matriculation results.

In this year's matriculation results, compared to last year there is a huge jump of students clearing the examination. Last year, 75.01 per cent of students were declared passed, while this year the pass percentage is 95.93 per cent. Number wise, out of total 433571 students who registered for the examination, as many of 415924 students were declared passed. Further, this year, a record 27031 students have got first division.

Notably, this is the first time that the results are being announced without holding any exams. The exams were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, class 10 students have been scored based on their marks in class 9 finals.

Students can see their results by downloading their marksheets from official websites, jac.nic.in, jacresults.com, jac.jharkhand.gov.in and jharresults.nic.in.

As per JAC results criteria, Class 10 students have been assessed based on their performance in class 9 finals. Out of the total marks, 80 per cent weightage has been given to theory exams and 20 per cent to practical exams.

Subjects that do not include practical exams were evaluated using internal assessment marks.

The JAC results this time is different from previous year as this year the JAC has not declared any topper in the examination. Neither there is State topper nor district wise topper.  Not only JAC, the ICSE which too declared its results this week too has high pass percentage as compared to previous years.

The Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations, or CISCE, which declared the ICSE Class 10th and ISC Class 12th results has the overall pass percentage at 99.98% for ICSE results and 99.76% for ISC results.

Delhi National Capital Region (NCR) has recorded a pass percentage of 100% in the ICSE results.

Meanwhile, students have mixed reactions to JAC results. Arvind Kumar, a student of Zila School Ranchi said, “We are happy that JAC has declared results. But the biggest concern is how students will get admission in premier institutions as the pass percentage is high.”

He said, “As the results have been prepared based on Class IX results and internal assessment even an average student has secured good marks this time.”

Echoing the views of Arvind, a teacher at Marwari College said that this year taking admission at colleges will be a tough task as colleges will have to go for another method for admission process as cutoff marks of students is very high.
