Congress general secretary and in-charge UP, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, launched attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath while addressing a `Pratigya Rally’ at Mahoba on Saturday.
Priyanka was earlier scheduled to arrive in Bundelkhand on November 23, but her visit was suddenly postponed and the rally was rescheduled to November 27 instead.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arranged comforts for himself and uses costly aircraft of Rs 8,000 crore for domestic and international travel but the Modi government has no money for waiving the loans on farmers,” Priyanka Vadra said.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel was also present and he too addressed the rally.
This is the second visit of Priyanka Vadra to Bundelkhand region in last ten days. Earlier she had visited Chitrakoot and addressed a rally of women.
Priyanka and the Congress party do not want to keep any stone unturned as they push for a comeback in the region after three decades. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had recently addressed a big public rally in Mahoba and the prime minister had inaugurated the Arjun Sahayak project.
Addressing the rally, Baghel attacked Modi. He said the Prime Minister Narendra Modi insulted Yogi Adityanath by keeping his arms around the neck of the UP chief minister. He said the prime minister was patronising Yogi Adityanath even as the latter was the head of the important religious institution Gorakshnath Peeth of Gorakhpur.
“After eastern Uttar Pradesh, Congress will now demonstrate its strength in western UP and Bundelkhand,” UP Congress president Ajay Kumar Lallu said.
The Congress is eyeing the 19 assembly seats of Bundelkhand.
Mahoba itself remains the hotbed of political future in Uttar Pradesh ahead of the assembly polls. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had both addressed people from Mahoba earlier this month, galvanising the Bharatiya Janata Party supporters and workers and boosting the saffron party's morale in the run up to the elections. Now, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other Congress leaders are looking to do the same for the opposing faction, and this will be followed up by a visit by Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on December 1.
