IPS officer of 1993 batch, Praveer Ranjan on Thursday took over the charge as Director General of Police of Chandigarh from Sanjay Baniwal. Ranjan was earlier serving as special commissioner, crime branch, Delhi Police.
He also served as Inspector General of Police (IGP), Puducherry. Outgoing DGP Baniwal who has been repatriated to Union Territory, Delhi after over 3 years tenure as DGP Chandigarh, was given a farewell at Police Lines Sector-26. He joined Chandigarh Police as DGP in 2018.
