Chhattisgarh Police on Saturday seized 200 kg of cannabis valued at Rs 14 lakh in Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi (GPM) district. The unidentified driver of the Special Utility Vehicle (SUV) ferrying the contraband escaped, GPM Superintendent of Police Suraj Singh Parihar told The Pioneer.
The action was taken based on a tip that the contraband was being transported via State Highway-8, the officer said.
During checking, police intercepted the SUV (CG-07 M-8026) near Banjhorka village in the Gaurela police station limits.
The police seized 40 packets of cannabis, each weighing 5 kg and packed in plastic bags besides the vehicle used in the crime, Parihar said.
