The two-day Uttarakhand police border development fair was inaugurated in the border area village of Malari by Chamoli superintendent of police Yashwant Singh Chauhan on Saturday.
Stalls have been put up at the fair by all the important departments in the district. This two-day fair will also include various sports competitions and performances based on the local culture.
The fair began with the performance of the traditional Pauna dance by the Mahila Mangal Dal and Yuvak Mangal Dal members of Malari. The women of this border village also danced the Jhumelo on the occasion while students of the government inter college at Tapovan presented the Shiv Tandav dance.
As the chief guest on the occasion, the Chamoli SP also visited the various stalls set up in the fair. Speaking on the occasion, Chauhan said that the main aim of this two-day fair is to enhance the activity of the police in the border region and establish direct communication with the residents of this region.
Nanda Devi national park divisional forest officer Nand Vallabh Sharma and others were also present on the occasion.
