The second award for “Best Performing State” will be given by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Chief Minister Chouhan will receive this award virtually from Indore.

The special award for Best AHP on Public Lands will be given by Minister of State, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India to Minister of Urban Development and Housing Bhupendra Singh. The awards of the urban bodies will also be given by the Minister of State Housing and Ministry of Urban Affairs, Government of India to the representatives of the urban bodies through video conferencing.

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) was started in the year 2015 aimed at realizing the vision of Prime Minister Shri Modi to provide pucca housing to every citizen of the country. Madhya Pradesh has implemented the scheme at a rapid pace since its inception, as a result of which about 3 lakh beneficiaries have been provided houses under the various components of the scheme by sanctioning about 8 lakh houses and construction of remaining houses is currently in progress.

Several innovations were made for effective implementation of the scheme in the state, as a result of which the scheme could be implemented properly. Landless families were provided with a pattas of residential land so that they could get the BLC component of the scheme. Under the AHP component of the scheme, the beneficiaries are being provided loans easily on the responsibility of the urban bodies through tripartite contract to remove the difficulty of getting loans from banks. For the implementation of the scheme, order was given to provide government land in 90 days on a land rent of Re 1, so that land can be available to the urban bodies in a time bound period.

Apart from this, decision has been taken to provide additional grant up to Rs one lakh apart from the amount provided under the scheme through Mukhya Mantri Bhavan and Nirman Karmakar Awas Yojana for the poor registered construction workers who are not able to give the beneficiary-share. Chhindwara Municipal Corporation awarded in the category of Municipal Corporations, has done excellent implementation of the scheme.
